Bimini Fishing

The Bahamas might be largely synonymous with flats fishing and trophy-sized bonefish, but there’s one island that still reigns supreme when it comes to bluewater action. Bimini is the self-proclaimed “big-game fishing capital of the world”, the place Ernest Hemingway fell in love with and, being the closest Bahamian island to the US mainland (just 48 miles), it’s still one of the most popular. Hordes of people come here in the hope of matching Papa’s achievements, competing in the various annual deep-sea fishing tournaments. Charter boats are available for reef and deep-sea fishing, and there are plenty of bonefish guides for the saltwater fly-fishermen out there.
