Fishing in Madeira

This beautiful Portuguese island sits in the Atlantic about 250 miles west of Africa. Measuring 57km by 22km, it’s basically the summit of a vast, steep mountain that rises up through the Atlantic. It’s this geographical peculiarity that makes the deep-sea fishing in Madeira so special. The sheer face of the submerged mountain on which Madeira sits means very deep water very close to the dock.
