Fishing in Scotland
The Atlantic Salmon. It’s one of the world’s most celebrated and iconic fish, and there are few better places to fish for it than Scotland. Rivers such as the Spey and the Tay, the Tweed and the Dee, have already cemented their place in salmon fishing folklore, and these (alongside the myriad other rivers and lochs that cover this land), remain some of the world’s most prolific salmon waters.
Of course, trout are here in abundance, too. From wild browns in the rivers and lochs to hard-fighting stillwater rainbows, you’re rarely that far from some decent trout fishing in Scotland.
And don’t forget Scotland’s pike fishing. Loch Lomond might be this toothy adversary’s most famous Scottish home, but fish can be found throughout the country’s waterways, from lowland rivers to mountain lochs.
