Pike Fishing in Scotland
Pike are prolific throughout Scotland – from the waterways of the Borders to the Highlands lochs, you’re never far from this toothy adversary.
Loch Lomond, easily reachable from Glasgow is rightly famed for its pike fishing, but other waters such as Loch Awe in Argyll and Loch Ken in Galloway (among many, many others) also provide outstanding sport.
Many of these hard-fighting fish, particularly in the lesser-known waters, see little angling pressure and can be caught on a variety of techniques. Lure fishing, dead-bating and fly-fishing will all score, but it’s always worth checking in with local tackle shops to see if you can tap into some local knowledge. Even better, if you’re new to the area and can afford to pay for a pike fishing guide, you’d be well advised to do so.
