Stafford Creek Lodge – Andros Island, Bahamas
Located in the north of Andros, Prescott Smith’s Stafford Creek Lodge offers secluded bonefishing and a proud tradition of specialized personal attention to clients. Thanks to a unique position (with access to the northern Joulters Cays, creek systems, inland lakes and the west coast of Andros), fishermen get to sample not just some of the island’s best bonefishing, but also some of the most reliable tarpon and permit fishing in the Bahamas.
The fishing
In owner and head guide, Prescott Smith, you’re in safe hands. The son of legendary Charlie Smith, first-class guide and tireless campaigner for Bahamas conservation, fishing with Prescott is an education for even the most experienced fisherman. This is saltwater fly-fishing with a realistic chance of the fabled grand slam – bonefish, tarpon and permit. Fishing days start one of two ways: either you head straight out from the dock at the lodge, or you trailer the skiffs a short distance to the northern Joulters Cays. Either way, you’ll be fishing from high performance and comfortable Maverick skiffs. There’s also the option of deep-sea fishing for dorado and other non-flats species from the lodge’s dedicated 26′ ocean craft.
The facilities
Stafford Creek Lodge can accommodate a maximum of six anglers at one time. Spacious cottages comprise two queen-size beds, en-suite bathroom, air-conditioning and ceiling fans, rod holders and boot-drying racks. Each room has a mini refrigerator (stocked with sodas, lemonade and water) and a coffee maker. Guests have access to email and internet in the office.
A full-time chef creates excellent meals designed around fresh seafood and other local ingredients. Breakfasts and dinners are served in the dining area of the lodge and lunch is packed in a cooler and eaten while you’re out on the flats. In terms of amenities, this place is up there with the best.
Rates
4 nights/3 days fishing $2,557.50 per person (single occupancy $5115)
7 nights/6 days fishing $4,743.75 per person (single occupancy $9,487.50)
