Value for money:

Small waterfront lodge in the East End of Grand Bahama Island, with a selection of cottages built in 2011, superb bonefishing on its doorstep and a commitment to what the lodge calls premier quality at an affordable rate. Skiffs are moored right outside the lodge, ready to go as soon as you step outside in the morning…

The fishing

The lodge has a fleet of new Dolphin skiffs, all of them skippered by some of the finest local guides. Fishing is predominantly for bonefish but you’ll find supplementary sport from cudas, snapper and sharks. Sport for bonefish is typically fast and furious (somewhere between 10 and 15 fish a day is not unusual) and the folks at the lodge recommend bringing the standard 8-9 weight rod and a fly box with a selection of the following: gotchas, mantis shrimp, assorted clousers, tan yarn crabs, sinrams.

The facilities

Part of the appeal of East End Lodge is how easy it is to reach. Flights between Fort Lauderdale (Florida) and Grand Bahama take just 25 minutes, and the drive from the airport to the lodge is another 45 minutes. You’ll be fishing in no time.
The waterfront lodge consists of a small collection of clean and comfy cottages (all built in 2011), with skiffs (all of them new) moored up right outside. That means no drive to the launch point.
Traditional Bahamian-style food is served in the lodge every evening, and an equally traditional warm Bahamian welcome comes as standard.

East End is the perfect combination of exceptional fishing grounds, premier guides, exceptional facilities and service, all within a half-hour flight from the continental U.S. The combination of both quantity and sized of the bonefish population makes this an ideal location for both serious veterans as well as new-comers to the bonefishing experience. With a fishery of in excess of 300 square miles, the guides will constantly and consistently find fish and fishable conditions. I have fished at EEL from its inception and, after years at competing locations and competing lodges, this is now my exclusive “go-to” fishing lodge.
