A letter I sent to the owner – he sent me an email back, asked for my number to call me and never did.
    The Letter:

I’m sorry to write such a negative email but I feel that your choice of guide and level of communication was grossly substandard.

Firstly, when we first spoke I was extremely specific about my fishing goals (target different species BF, permit, tarpon) which you explained-“it has been slow but you never know” (meaning- I was to go looking for other species with my guide). Secondly, I explained to you that I’m a captain that charters mainly big game on the east coast with a limited skill set with the fly rod, this was to be my first time flats fishing and I had all the equipment except for flies( which didn’t seem to be an issue).
My guide and his vessel – firstly, the vessel was a POS but I truly felt that if the guide was talented and was willing to go find fish – it was all good. Upon his arrival I stopped him at the pier and had a chat. I explained to him what I was looking to do and my skill level. He did have much of a reply.

After a quick trip thought the canal and a ½ mile trip to the left of the private inland there we stay for a “whole day” BF hunt with not a single vessel around us the entire time. (at this point, one might think the captain was more interested in saving fuel over finding fish). To add insult to injury, the first fly he handed me was this beat up “rusted” dull piece of Cr—(I just laughed). Also, The Guide: when calling out fish may want to add a few instructions to a finger point and an” over there” like fish at 12 o’clock – 30,20,15 feet. Someone with a half of mind could blind cast if the guide is on and catch fish. Remember, the water wasn’t dead flat winds 20knots sustained, this makes for a tough day when you have never been flats fishing. My point is, one could used a little help from there experienced guide.

Lastly, after being on the boat for 4 hours the guide may want to ask if you would like something to drink. But, I finally had to ask him and was presented with a warm bottle of water.
I’m not saying that the guide did not find fish – he did” BF “and anyone could have found BF there but I really wanted to look and fish for other species. I would have liked to learn a few things from my guide and I would have liked a guide that wanted to do more than just the bare minimum.

I really feel that I got the bottom of the barrel and wish I was told you had no charters available. At this point, I would never recommend your organization to any of my clients, colleagues or friends.
