The fishing

Fishing from Russell and Janet’s 17’ Key West Stealth flats boat, you’ll employ a range of methods (from fly to light tackle) in the backcountry flats, inshore and nearshore waters of Amelia Island. Perennial targets include redfish and sea trout, with some incredible sight-fishing opportunities available here – particularly in the spring, summer and fall.

Spring to fall is also a great time for sight-fishing along the beaches and nearshore for a variety of pelagic species like bluefish, cobia, jack crevalle, false albacore, ladyfish, spanish mackerel, sharks and tarpon.

And if you fancy tangling with some monster jack crevalle, you couldn’t choose a better location. In the months of June, July and August, 18 to 45lb brutes show up here, sometimes in schools of over 500 fish, ready to smash into topwater plugs. It’s heart-stopping stuff and not to be missed.
