Operating out of Sarasota, Florida, Rick Grassett caters to anglers of all skill levels, offering trips to Sarasota Bay, the Charlotte Harbor backcountry, Tampa Bay and the gulf beaches.
The fishing
Because Rick covers a huge range of water, the fishing options are plentiful. The mangrove shorelines and shallow grass flats of Charlotte Harbor are home to snook, trout, redfish, tarpon and more, while Sarasota’s bay and backcountry offers incredible sight fishing for everything from bluefish, jumbo crevalle and ladyfish to snook, trout and redfish.
If it’s tarpon on the fly you’re after, you could hardly pick a better place to go after them – the silver kings are abundant on the beaches from Charlotte Harbor north to Venice and Sarasota, and Rick specializes in catching them on the fly.
Rick uses Quantum spinning tackle and Orvis fly tackle on his boat. He is also a Federation of Fly Fishers certified fly casting instructor and offers private instruction and instructional fishing trips. So, if you’re looking to grab that first fish on the fly, Rick could be the man to show you how.
