The fishing

Little-known and hugely underrated, the fishing in the Bay Islands of Honduras is beginning to get the recognition it deserves.

Pescado Roatan offer charters to all three islands (Utila, Roatan and Guanaja) in order to maximise anglers’ chances of encountering all of the area’s top species. Permit, though present throughout, are reckoned to be most abundant in the flats around Roatan, while Guanaja is considered the more prolific bonefish destination.

The deeper waters just beyond the flats are also worth exploring, with wahoo, dorado, kingfish and marlin all present.

With half-day charters also available, Pescado Roatan are a good option for anyone arriving on a cruise and wanting to sneak in a quick bonefishing session.
