Enrique offers hotel pick-ups and provides all tackle, lunch and drinks, making this a great option for fishermen on holiday with family looking for day or two on the water.
The fishing
For those fishing out of Cancun, the day starts at 6am at the Blue Ray Marina dock, which is located on the lagoon side between The Ritz Carlton Hotel and The Royal Sands Hotel. From there you will head into the Laguna Nichupte as well as Laguna Bojorquez, targeting tarpon, snook, snapper, barracuda and jacks year round, with permit and bonefish present during the summer.
Trips to Isla Blanca take a little longer and require a 5.30am start (Enrique will usually pick you up from your hotel) before you head off to the Isla Blanca fishery. Tarpon, snook, permit, bonefish, sea trout, jacks, snapper and ladyfish are all possibilities.
Cancun fishing trips take place in Enrique’s 17’ Maverick skiff, while Isla Blanca trips, being a little further away, require something a little larger – his 18’ panga. Anglers are welcome to bring their own gear, but Enrique has a full range of both fly and spinning tackle on board for those who don’t.
