Fishipedia Trip Report: Kooi Noom, Patagonia – Day 6
December 17th, 2014| No Comments
It’s almost time to say goodbye to his Patagonian paradise, but as Ben finds out, some of the best is still to come at Kooi Noom…
Day 6 – Final Cast
Our final day in Kooi Noom was one of the best. We fished the lower part of the Tavia spring creek. The water here is full of life. Scuds and other larvae flip and spin about in small pools.
The stream itself tumbles down the low valley forming a series of sharp bends, runs and, pools, undercut banks, all holding small and big trout.
Close-quarter tactics are required, with fine casting and a quiet approach essential to avoid spooking the fish, and often with one guide spotting fish from a higher vantage point. We caught trout on nymphs and hopper patterns all day. It was really superb action.
