Some things come with a more-or-less guaranteed seal of quality – cigars (and rum) from Cuba, beef from Argentina, lobster from Maine. And so it is with fishing videos from Confluence Films . With titles on their CV including “Drift”, “Connect” and “Rise”, it goes without saying that a new film from Jim Klug and co is something to get excited about. And this trailer for forthcoming project, “Waypoints”, complete with some fierce GT action and bonefish of astonishing size from St Brandon’s atoll, confirms it…

If the Sultanate of Oman should suddenly start to see an influx of tourist dollars from pastel-shirted, fly-rodded men wading across its southern beaches in search of Indo-Pacific permit, no-one could blame Ray Montoya if he asked for a cut. This guy has almost single-handedly put permit fishing in Oman on the map in recent times, with a steady trickle of YouTube clips documenting his pursuit of the sickle-tailed devil along the coast of the Arabian Peninsula. Here’s his latest offering – as usual, it’s a splendid bit of work…

Not long ago, we launched the Honduras section of this site, focusing primarily on the premium-grade flats fishing in the country’s beautiful Bay Islands. It’s a destination often overlooked in favour of places such as Mexico and Belize, but it’s probably safe to say things won’t always be that way. Check out this video (shot at the rather excellent-looking Fly Fish Guanaja lodge) to see why…

To coincide with the launch of his latest book, A Few Great Flies… and How to Fish Them, Mr Morse dropped into Farlows in London, to deliver a talk on his life in fishing. We were lucky enough to catch up with him for a quick chat…

Fishing in Mosquito Lagoon during November offered some excellent sight fishing opportunities for redfish and large seatrout. Many of the redfish are in schools that range from 25 -200 fish. On calm days they can be found tailing on the shallow flats in search of crabs, shrimp, and marine worms.

Here’s some footage of monster trout from Strobel Lake – better known to most of us as Jurassic Lake. Lovely stuff too, although it is let down slightly by a rubbish soundtrack. What would you rather hear: the sound of the waves crashing against those rocks, the wind whipping across the water and the drag singing away as a monster trout gets his angry on… or some ill-suited rock music? Maybe it’s just me…
