Situated in the Katmai National park, 250 miles southwest of Anchorage, is Kulik Lodge, the premier operation of Alaska’s Angler’s Paradise operation, a business comprising three different lodges. Upscale accommodations, a true wilderness setting, excellent fishing and first-class facilities make this a popular option for fishermen heading to southwest Alaska.

The fishing

The Kulik River, with its giant rainbow trout, flows right outside the lodge. There are also four float-planes available for fly-out adventures, giving anglers access to hundreds of miles of lakes and streams, and the opportunity to go after rainbow trout, grayling and char as well as all five species of Pacific salmon found in the area. Hand-picked, expert local guides work hard to ensure you get plenty of shots at fish – but thanks to the incredible natural resource here, they rarely have any trouble with that.

The facilities

A true Alaska fishing lodge, Kulik accommodates  guests in wooden cabins (all fully plumbed) and there’s a hot tub for you to relax in after a hard day’s fishing. The main lodge is the place to come together in the evenings over a meal, a drink or two and the odd fishing tale. There’s a large stone fireplace, dining area and bar where complimentary cocktails are served each evening.
