Chester’s Highway Inn – Acklins Island, Bahamas
Chester’s Highway Inn is located at the northern tip of Acklins Island, 40 miles north of Spring Point on the Bight of Acklins. This family-run lodge can accommodate a maximum 20 people, and offers the perfect gateway to Acklins’ fabled flats fishery. A great option for those wishing to do some DIY bonefishing, the lodge can also hook you up with one of their knowledgeable local guides.
The fishing
Step out of the lodge, cross the street, walk all of 50 metres and you’re on the flats. And this being Acklins Island, the fish are largely unpressured and the fishery itself unspoilt. The average weight of fish round here is between 4 and 9lbs. If you fancy exploring a little further afield, take one of the lodge’s kayaks or bicycles and head off to the innumerable flats in the area. If you prefer to go with a guide, Terrance and his brother Elvis will be your hosts for the day.
The facilities
Chester’s Highway Inn is furnished with Bahamian decor and can accommodate 20 people maximum. Each unit has a private entry, private bedroom and private bath, air-conditioning, refrigerator, iron, microwave, TV, washer & dryer. Meals now served from the newly constructed “JuNet’s Clubhouse Restaurant” as a part of their all-inclusive experience.
