Owned and operated by Andros Island fishing legend, Andy Smith, Broad Shad Cay Lodge is a beautifully remote and luxurious lodge in Andros’ North Bight offering anglers the chance to catch monster bonefish, along with permit and tarpon.
The fishing
In terms of saltwater fly-fishing guides, Andy Smith is pretty much royalty, and the crew he has assembled here are hand-picked to carry on that tradition. From its prime location on a private cay in the middle of North Bight, Broad Shad Cay Lodge gives fishermen immediate access to some of the best bonefishing flats in the world. Anglers can choose also to head east for permit or to the west coast for tarpon – or pretty much anywhere in between. Thanks to the central position of the lodge you’ll be able to find a rising tide at any point during the day. Don’t be surprised if you fish all day without seeing another person.
The facilities
Catering for up to four guests at a time, this is a truly intimate setting, with a special focus on personalized service. The lodge was built by Andy in collaboration with his brother Benry, and great care was taken to source local materials in its construction. All rooms have views overlooking the flats, and come equipped with two queensize beds, timber ceilings, A/C, dresser, closet, first aid kit, refrigerator stocked with soft drinks and beer, and a bathroom with daily fresh linen.
In the main lodge, you’ll find satellite TV, maps and a comfy space to relax in.

Tis a very, very personal place. No location like it, lodge is spectacular, food is outstanding, Andy is a fishing wizard, and the fishing itself is better than all that. Have been six times and about to go on my seventh. Andy will fish you till you drop, no clockwatching here. Treat yourself, your heirs will!
