Host Gordon Baggett proudly claims this place to be the only inclusive fishing lodge in the Florida Keys. It’s quite a place too – a luxurious five-room hideaway in the heart of the Keys, with superb amenities and service, and fully-customisable fishing program that focuses on sight-fishing for bonefish, tarpon and permit.

The fishing

Located just beyond the fish-rich waters of the Seven Mile Bridge, this lodge is unique. At Bahia Honda Sporting Club, you will exclusively sight-fish in clear and shallow water, over both dark turtle grass and light rocky bottoms. From the sandy flats of the Atlantic, to the colorful and secluded backcountry waters of the Gulf, you’ll be targeting bonefish, permit and tarpon, with top-notch guides leading the way. Fishing is often split up across the day, heading back to the lodge for lunch and some time out of the sun before returning to the water for late afternoon fishing.

The facilities

The Mediterranean-style villa is set in a 16-acre estate, bordered by a wildlife refuge, on an open water bay. A collection of just five rooms and suites scattered throughout the spacious property ensures this place is never overcrowded. Also included are: swimming pool, courtyard, flat-screen TV, a computer area with high-speed internet access and an open bar.

7-day package $5,850 (6.5 days fishing)

(Rates are based on a two person per boat capacity. Solo fishing can be arranged at an additional cost, or to host non-fishing guests at a lesser cost. Included is accommodation, guided fishing, all food and beverages including beer and liquor. Not included are gratuities and transportation.)
