Situated in the less developed south of Andros, this lodge specializes in fly-fishing for bonefish in a secluded and unspoilt setting. The lodge has instant access to a huge fishery – from the scores of tidal creeks , remote cays and inland flats of Andros’ east side to the big-fish waters of the west side, this place is home to thousands of bonefish.

The fishing

Diversity is the key selling point at Andros South bonefish lodge. Miles of flats perfect for wading, mangrove creeks loaded with schools of bones and huge ocean-side flats peppered with bruisers from the deep all add up to a unique fishing experience. The owners proudly claim that “The diversity and size of the fishery mean a completely different fishing experience every day of your trip.”

Run by US firm, Deneki Outdoors, who also run top-class operations in Alaska West and BC West, Andros South benefits from the same expert and professional approach you’ll find in all their destinations. Guides are enthusiastic, hard-working and friendly and the fishing is hard to beat. Bruce Chard, who hosts bonefish schools here and has been a regular at the lodge for six years, reckons the fishing is getting better if anything.

The facilities

According to the management, Andros South is not for you if you’re the luxury-and-linen-tablecloth type. However, “if you’re looking for a very comfortable place to spend the week fishing, relaxing and enjoying a remote, quiet island in the Bahamas, you’ve come to the right place.”

Rooms are air conditioned and all have their own bathroom. Each guest gets his own room too. All meals (authentic local cuisine) are served in the common room, and the oceanside tiki bar, The Slack Tide, has become legendary as the perfect spot for drinks and appetizers at the end of your fishing day.
