With so many loyal, repeat guests, the Andros Island Bonefish Club has something of a reputation in the world of Bahamas fishing. Rupert Leadon purchased this property from the government of the Bahamas in 1984, with a dream to create the lodge. What stands today is a bonefish lodge with 30 rooms, a comprehensive range of amenities and the perfect launch-pad for your Bahamas fly-fishing vacation.

The fishing

Situated on a small, protected creek at the eastern end of Andros’ North Bight, AIBC offers access to some of the best fly-fishing in the Bahamas. Just 100 yards from the lodge itself sits a wadable flat where bonefish are frequently spotted tailing – beyond that, the opportunities are endless, with scores of bonefish to chase, and Andros’ fabled double-digit bonefish a realistic possibility. Anglers fish from 16′-18′ modern flats skiffs and fishing can be done either from the boat or by wading hard flats and white sand beaches.

When conditions allow, trips can be organised to the remote west side of Andros where fishermen may get a shot at the occasional permit and resident tarpon. Offshore fishing can also be arranged.

The facilities

Having merged with the neighbouring Creekside Lodge in 2003, AIBC now has 30 rooms for guests. The lodge itself stretches across a quarter of a mile and all its rooms have sea views. Modestly decorated, clean, comfortable and air-conditioned, each comes with a private bath, a personal refrigerator and a ceiling fan. Single rooms, double rooms, and two triple rooms are available. Daily housekeeping and laundry service are provided.

There’s also a freshwater swimming pool with surrounding patio, satellite television, a full service bar and a lounge/dining room where the emphasis is of course on seafood.
