Operating out of Gustavus on the Gulf of Alaska, Douglas Ogilvy’s Whisper Marine Charters offers a true wilderness kayaking and fishing charter, targeting steelhead, rainbow trout and salmon on the western side of Chichagof Island.
The fishing
A series of small connected passages, bays and fjords shelter you from the storms of the Gulf of Alaska as you head off on a kayaking and fishing adventure. You will cast in streams for steelhead, cutthroat and rainbow trout, dolly varden char and salmon. As well as spectacular fishing, you may well catch a glimpse of humpback and gray whales, sea otters and sea lions, seals, river otters, deer, eagles and bears. Evenings are spent relaxing by the campfire, as the guides prepare your evening meal.
