Ricardo Mackey – Cargill Creek, Andros, Bahamas
An independent fishing guide operating out of Cargill Creek on Andros Island, Ricardo has been guiding clients in the area for nearly 20 years and has well-earned reputation as one of the best in the business.
The fishing
The waters around Andros are noted not just for the sheer numbers of bonefish, but for their size too. If you’re looking to hook up to one of the area’s bruisers, few people are likely to know better than Ricardo where to look. Depending on prevailing conditions, Ricardo can take you into the creeks and channels off the island’s North and Middle Bights, or for something a little different, trips over to the West Side can also be arranged. The focus will be bonefish, but you can expect seasonal shots at permit and tarpon (particularly on the West Side).

We fished with Ricardo in November 2010 and found him to be an excellent guide.
From the off he was professional and courteous, his boat was clean, well-managed and well-equipped, and throughout the day he was ready with hints, tips and suggestions. More than that though, Ricardo’s a lot of fun to fish with – he’s got a great sense of humour and appreciates just what it takes to make sure his clients are happy during their day fishing.
We caught plenty of fish throughout the day. If at any point we weren’t seeing enough, Ricardo was always ready with a Plan B.
In short, superb. One of the best guides available, we wouldn’t hesitate to book him again.
Ricardo Mackey is an awesome bonefish guide. A real professional. Works hard, knows where the fish are, and how to catch them.
