Captain Jason Stock is the man behind Jm Snooky Charters, offering guided kayak fishing trips in Tampa Bay and Sarasota Bay, Florida. Regularly featured in magazines including Florida Sportsman and Saltwater Sportsman, Jason is one of the area’s finest proponents of light-tackle kayak fishing, targeting redfish, trout, snook and tarpon.

The fishing

Tides, wind, weather patterns and times of year will all determine what type of fishing Captain Jason will suggest. Typically, winter is a great time to get out of the kayak and wade for tailing redfish and bigger gator trout; springtime, when baitfish start moving on to the flats, is when you’ll find larger schools of reds (100-500 fish is not uncommon), snook in more aggressive mood and tarpon on their migration north. Summer is the best time for sight-fishing trophy snook (along with ever-present redfish), plus sharks and tarpon just off the beaches.

Captain Jason’s kayak fishing charters provide you with a unique (and relatively inexpensive) charter option. This kind of fishing allows for a slow, stealthy and relaxed approach, and gives you to access to areas that other boats would be unable to reach. All skill levels are catered for – whether you’re an experienced kayak angler or a complete beginner, you’ll be made more than welcome.
