The fishing
Based at Wilson’s Wharf Marina in Durban, Mike Laubscher’s Blue Water Charters boasts one of the highest catch rates off Durban. In the summer months, marlin and big game fishing (for tuna, wahoo, GTs and the like) is a firm favourite. Fishing from Free Spirit, a 32′ Silverton Sport Fisher, Captain Mike employs a range of methods, including trolling, vertical jigging, spinning and fly-fishing.
Fully equipped with top-notch tackle along with GPS and fly bridge, the boat also boasts a cabin, a bed, plenty of seating, a galley, a shower and a private flush toilet.
In addition to fishing charters, Mike can also arrange offshore cruises, corporate functions, sunset cruises, sunrise breakfasts, nature tours and bird watching. Catering can be provided on request or you can warm up your own food on board and keep your refreshments cool in the fridge.
