Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Report with Capt. Chris Myers (Feb 2, 2013)

The view from Mosquito Lagoon with Captain Chris Myers

The sight fishing in Mosquito Lagoon has been about as good as it can get in recent weeks. The weather has been generally warmer than usual which has made for some comfortable fishing conditions. To go along with the excellent weather, huge schools of redfish have been the norm. This week, we encountered schools so large you could not cast from one side of them to the other. A wonderful problem to have for a fisherman. Even on the slowest of days, we still have had shots at over 1,000 redfish per day.

Q&A: Fishipedia meets Steve Brown from Honduras bonefish lodge, Fly Fish Guanaja

The Fishipedia Q&A: Steve Brown of Fly Fish Guanaja

Honduras – specifically the remote Caribbean flats of Guanaja in the Bay Islands – sounds like our kind of place. Lots of fish and negligible angler pressure is a ratio that always works – but when you throw in friendly locals, top-notch guides, a laid-back island vibe and a realistic chance of a grand slam (bonefish, tarpon and permit on the same day), the whole thing starts making a lot of sense. All of which makes it slightly mystifying as to why this place has remained such a well-kept secret for so long.

Video Goodness: '365 Days in 365 Seconds'

Smart idea for a film, smartly delivered. The title says it all really, and what a 2012 this angler (whoever he may be) seems to have had. If you can handle overpowering feelings of jealousy, step this way for a feast of redfish, tarpon (lots of those), bonefish, speckled trout, sheepshead and false albacore. Personal favorite bit: when those bones come gliding onto the flat around the 40-second mark…

Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Report with Capt. Chris Myers (Dec 30, 2012)

The view from Mosquito Lagoon with Captain Chris Myers

The final weeks of 2012 brought both  excellent and  tough days of fishing on Mosquito Lagoon. Some days the weather was perfect, on others, we had high winds, clouds, and cold that dropped water temperatures by 15 degrees or more. One the good days, there were schools of tailing redfish in every direction. On others, we did not see a tail the entire day even though the fish were still around.
