Seascape Inn – Mangrove Cay, Andros, Bahamas
The Seascape Inn might not be a dedicated fishing lodge, but with bonefish flats and local guides on its doorstep, it’s a perfect alternative for the casual fisherman and equally suitable for those travelling with non-fishing companions. A friendly and rustic place located in beautiful Mangrove Cay, it’s no wonder the Seascape Inn is a favourite with fishermen heading to Andros.
The fishing
The first thing to say about the Seascape Inn is that it’s absolutely perfect for DIY bonefishing. There’s a productive flat right out the front of the lodge where you can stalk bones all day and if you fancy heading down to the Lisbon Creek flats at the southern tip of Mangrove Cay, you can take one of the bikes the owners provide free of charge. And if you want to hire a guide, just ask at reception – Mickey and Joan will happily put you in touch with local guides Mark Bastian and Ralph Moxey who can get you out into the bights that Andros is famous for.
The facilities
With five carefully-maintained cabanas, the Seascape Inn is a quiet and rustic destination, and hosts Mickey and Joan McGowan are among the most welcoming you’ll find. All cabanas face the sea and all have ceiling fans and private decks. Breakfasts are legendary here, with meals served each evening in the elevated bar.
Rates
Standard beachfront cabana from $135

stayed with mickey and joan on my honeymoon and the wife was kind enough to let me fish a good bit. yes we’re still married, lol. actually caught more bonefish out front than i did with the guide. also walking distance to a blue hole where you can catch mangrove snapper and grouper. we loved it, and we just booked our second trip.
