The fishing

The folks at Dromagowlane House pride themselves on looking after the needs of visiting anglers. On-site facilities include a tackle shop with fresh bait, fridge and freezer facilities, plus a tackle and bait room. The owners are always happy to offer expert tips and advice about local fishing spots, and all guests who stay for two days or more are provided with a free guiding service to the best local fishing marks, daily advice and free use of tackle.

In terms of the fishing itself, there’s a wealth of opportunities along this stunning stretch of coast – lure and fly-fishermen are well catered for with an abundance of easy-access rock fishing and excellent sport from bass and pollock. Pollock in particular are abundant here, with catches of over 30 fish not uncommon. Add in some terrific wrasse fishing, alongside the odd conger eel or two, and there’s something to please most sea anglers.

Lodging & facilities

Super-comfortable and genuinely welcoming, Dromagowlane is the perfect retreat after a hard day’s fishing on the Beara Peninsula. All bedrooms come with private bathrooms, satellite TV, DVD/CD player, tea- and coffee-making facilities, complimentary drinking water and toiletries, and a safe.

Breakfast is served between 8am and 10am daily, while dinner and packed lunch can be organised if required. The nearest pub is a 5-minute walk away.  Wi-Fi is available free of charge.

And if you need a break from the fishing, other activities in the area include golf, walking and cycling.
