Alagnak Lodge – Alaska
Situated in south-west Alaska’s Bristol Bay, this beautiful Alaska fishing lodge sits right on the banks of the Alagnak River, with fishing for five types of salmon (plus much more) within a short cast. The lodge can only be accessed by floatplane, resulting in a true wilderness fishing experience with just a few bears, moose and eagles for company.
The fishing
Sitting on a bluff overlooking the tidal waters of the Alagnak River, Alagnak Lodge has some incredible fishing literally on its doorstep. Tidal waters and proximity to the ocean means fish full of fight and energy – depending on the time of year, you can expect to find five different species of salmon including king salmon, sockeye salmon, chum salmon, pink salmon and silver salmon, not to mention rainbow trout, arctic char, grayling and northern pike. Most of the fishing is accessible by boat, there are some wade-fishing opportunities from sand bars in the river and the lodge also offer the option for special fly-out adventures to more remote spots.
The facilities
Alagnak Lodge has a selection of single rooms, double rooms and a number of rooms that sleep two or three people, making them ideal for families. All rooms and facilities are located in one main lodge, just 48 steps up from the water’s edge, on what the folks here like to call Mount Alagnak. All rooms and facilities are located in the main lodge, contributing to a friendly and sociable atmosphere. You’ll find all the amenities you would expect: modern indoor plumbing, 24-hour electricity and a daily housekeeping service. You can expect to be fed very well.
